Overview

Under direction of the Director of Purchasing, the successful candidate will be responsible for the procurement of commodities through the development and implementation of commodity strategy plans and the management of supplier relationships. Other areas of responsibility include price negotiation, supplier diversity, and international business as it relates to Certificate of Origin, NAFTA, and import/ export requirements and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Develops or assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization.
  • Ensures that purchasing business practices are compatible with company policies and state and federal laws.
  • Manages specific small business and/or purchasing programs and all import documentation and logistics.
  • Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
  • May oversee audit compliance and perform audits.
  • Maintain procurement files.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and/or 3 to 5 years of purchasing experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified are required.

CPSM or C.P.M. certification through the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) is preferred.

Military procurement experience a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and Word is required.

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual- English/ Spanish

Ability to interact professionally with internal and external parties.
