Under direction of the Purchasing Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the procurement of commodities through the development and implementation of commodity strategy plans and the management of supplier relationships. Other areas of responsibility include price negotiation, supplier diversity, and international business as it relates to Certificate of Origin and import/ export requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Initiates orders: create orders through MRP system using data provided, vendor selection, signature approvals.
Expedite materials as needed to insure manufacturing has material to meet requirements.
Initiates other procurement activities, which includes:
Coordination of bid activities
Outside processes and contractor management
Analyze and manage the purchase of various MRO, raw materials and contractors’ services.
Review and compile vendor performance data, negotiate prices, delivery, and quality.
Initiates corrections for safety stock, lead times as needed.
Inform superiors of any matter of concern and advise on recommended solutions or improvements.
Ensure environmental and safety compliance for any procurement activities in the Supply Chain Department.
Ensures purchasing business practices are compatible with company policies and state and federal laws.
Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient and safe operation of the department.
Execute, expedite, de-expedite Purchase Orders to meet company requirements.
Reviews contracts to ensure all applicable requirements are met.
Performs other duties as assigned.
May oversee audit compliance and perform audits
Maintain procurement files including clerical
Bachelor's degree and/or 3 to 5 years of purchasing experience in a fast- paced manufacturing environment that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified are required.
CPSM or C.P.M. certification through the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) is preferred.
Military procurement experience a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and Word is required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to interact professionally with internal and external parties.
