  • Overview

    The HR generalist performs duties in some or all the following functional areas: employee relations, recruiting, onboarding/orientation, employment, training, affirmative action, and serves as a backup in benefits administration, and payroll functions. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who can relate to individuals at all levels within the organization.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    Recruits and screens and job applicants to fill entry-level, professional and technical job openings.

    Reviews applications to match experience with specific job-related    requirements.

    Schedules and conduct new hire onboarding/orientation.

    Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.

    Maintains all employee and applicant documentation as dictated by governing agencies.

    Maintains employee personnel files.

    Monitors tardy and absenteeism reports and ensures proper documentation is issued on employees who have excessive tardiness or absenteeism problems.

    Manages and tracks all employee disciplinary action.

    Maintains and processes all Unemployment Notices of Entitlement and potential charges in a timely,

    efficient manner. Attends unemployment hearings when necessary.

    Reports vacation, sick, personal day and holiday use to payroll and scheduling. Maintains and distributes report of same.

    Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits Forms I-9.

    Distributes and monitors employee performance evaluations and ensures they are completed timely.

    Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.

    Develops and maintains Affirmative Action Program; completes EEO-1 report annually; and maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.

    Maintains company organization charts and the employee directory.

    Analyze employment related data and prepare required weekly and monthly reports.

    Conduct exit interviews and ensure necessary employment termination paperwork is completed.

    Perform other duties as may be assigned.

     

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

     

    Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.

    Experience in the administration of payroll and benefits programs and processes.

    Two to four years of experience in human resource generalist role. 

    Experience with Ultipro payroll desired.

    Working knowledge of employment law, AAP and employee relation practices.

    Proven experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

    Ability to multi-task, to meet established deadlines and to achieve desired results.
