Provides occupational health and medical care to the extent allowed by applicable regulations, including coordination with external service providers. Assist as needed with administering the workers compensation program within Amerex and in coordination with external parties by ongoing case management of work-related injury/illness.
Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ conditions.

Direct or supervise less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel or supervise a particular unit.
Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers’ health and safety.
Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
Provides occupational medical and health care to Amerex employees to the extent allowed by regulations. Treats injuries occurring on any shift as appropriate. Provides guidance to supervisors on methods of treatment and of need for referral to external providers such as hospitals and clinics.
Contacts physician and hospital to arrange for further medical treatment, when needed.
Maintains medical and health records including workers compensation and non-workers compensation, and prepares accident reports and insurance forms for workers compensation.

Assists physician in employee medical examinations.
Assists in administering workers’ compensation program, including treatment coordination, return to work, compensation, records maintenance, and works with the insurance carrier and third party administrator to reduce employee lost time.
Maintains first aid facilities and supplies.
Coordinates and/or conducts testing and training for lead, audiometric, respirator, and other health & safety programs.
Assists in conducting periodic training for first aid, CPR, and other health & safety programs.
Prepares necessary reports pertaining to safety & health.
Prepares, recommends, and implements programs pertaining to safety & health.
Accompanies, as appropriate, employees to outside medical services providers.
Conducts random Drug Testing of active employees as per Drug Free Workplace policy
Maintains professional licenses and remains current on occupational health matters.
Monitors and reviews post-offer physical exams, including drug testing program.
Learns and follows the environmental management system as defined and require.
Responsible to suggest improvements to the environmental management system when and where appropriate.
Registered Nursing degree required.
Alabama Nursing License required.
Work experience as Occupational Health Nurse preferred.
CPR and First Aid Certification preferred, preferably from American Red Cross.
Counsels with employees to gather information required in their treatment.
Works daily in the manufacturing plant environment of a foundry and machine shop.
Provides all first aid services authorized by law for a registered nurse.
Late night work is required infrequently to address all shifts.
Interfaces in person, on the telephone, and via electronic transitions.
Uses keyboard to enter information into a computer.
Job location is Trussville, Alabama. Infrequent travel is required.
Performs lifting, moving, and manipulation of patients frequently.
