Overview

The Product Development Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of new products for the fire extinguisher market.

Responsibilities

  • Perform market research to understand market requirements for new product development.
  • Conceptualize new product ideas by using Autodesk Inventor CAD software to design prototypes.
  • Work with regulatory agencies such as: UL, FM, etc. for product approvals/compliance and associated listings.
  • Conduct R&D efforts involving hands-on prototype development, function testing and required performance/verification testing.
  • Maintain product continuous improvement efforts supporting production.
  • Create technical documents and instruction literature.
  • Ability to handle a dynamic workload: from heavy multi-tasking during peak workloads to very focused detail-oriented work during critical projects.
  • High degree of attention to detail; demonstrates accuracy and self-directed, energetic, dependable, and thorough, with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis.
  • Ability to manage scheduled projects from concept to completion within estimated timeline.
  • Approximate travel 10%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • Familiar with data acquisition hardware/software.
  • Excellent team communication, time management, human relations, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, proficiency in written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Autodesk Design Suite, and Adobe Acrobat.

 

SUMMARY OF WORKING CONDITIONS

 

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and may involve exposure to moderate noise levels. 

While conducting R & D efforts, this position may involve working with hazardous materials, and environmental changes (heat/cold).
